Party time! Let’s talk about Christmas...

May 24, 2018

Err... have you seen the weather outside?!

Why on earth are we talking about Christmas when we are not even half way through the year and the sun is shining through our windows? It’s even predicted to reach the heady heights of 30 degrees this weekend in some areas of the UK!

Well, the reason is because we aren’t the only ones and we all know that the early bird catches the worm.

In fact, many of the larger companies and corporations out there will have already secured their venue and date, selected their menu and be counting down the days until their annual Christmas party.

That’s where we can help. It may be the last thing on your mind at the moment (especially with the dreaded GDPR occupying the time of most business owners right now!) but if you want to secure a brilliant venue and a prime date, it’s time to get moving. Your employees will thank you later.

What to bear in mind when booking your party:

Positive reviews

This may come in the form of word of mouth, TripAdvisor reviews or Facebook recommendations.

Private or joining a party?

If you’re looking to book a private event, you need to book quick as these are what book out first. If you have a smaller team and are looking to join other groups, many venues offer this option and it’s a fun way of creating the party atmosphere.

Where would suit most of your employees? Perhaps even ask them to send back their choices and ideas for a venue so that you can create a poll.

Obviously the food is an important part so it’s got to be an appealing menu but also bear in mind whether or not they cater for dietary requirements as you will always have these when organising a group meal.

Value for money

What is included for your money? Is it a buffet or three course sit down meal? Is a DJ, band or music provided? Is there any additional entertainment? Are novelties and crackers included?

Travel arrangements

Is the venue close to public transport? If not, will guests be expected to make their own travel arrangements or are you organising a coach or taxis for them? If you are organising an event at a hotel, most venues will offer discounted bedroom rates for Christmas party guests. It may be that you also provide accommodation or leave it up to them if they wish to book and pay for a room.

Those are a few points to think about. If you’d rather take the thinking off your plate, at Zest we offer the service of helping you with your research and booking arrangements. We can even help you organise the whole event from start to finish if you’d like.

That leaves you time to concentrate on other burning issues and avoid thinking about Christmas for just a little bit longer...
